Urrgh!

Sometimes listening to the radio is just…depressing…and angering. I listened to the half hour news on a local station, KMBZ-980. They made mention that Michael Brown’s parents were suing the city of Ferguson, Missouri. I had heard that news item before, it wasn’t new. What was angering was KMBZ’s presentation, “…Michael Brown who was killed by a Ferguson police officer…” That slant perpetuated the myth that Michael Brown was not a thug who had just committed strong-arm robbery and was not killed attacking an officer. I understand that radio news must use an economy of words, but saying instead, “…Michael Brown who was shot while attacking a police officer…” is just as economical and much more truthful and accurate? No, KMBZ chose otherwise, it’s easier to slant the report, omit a fact, and perpetuate a myth.

So much for truth and accuracy in the local news. Another reason why I no longer subscribe to the KC ‘Red’ Star, nor watch local TV news. Nothing but lies and liberal propaganda

The Bush campaign continues to falter. Bush, like Clinton, is being his own worse enemy. It was bad enough Bush tried to copy Walker’s presentation style at the NRA Annual Meeting—taking his jacket off to appear to be a “good ol’ boy.” It didn’t work in Nashville. Now Bush is using double-ought to shoot himself in the foot once more.

Jeb Bush: NSA surveillance ‘the best part’ of Obama administration

– The Washington Times – Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Former Florida Gov. and likely presidential candidate Jeb Bush said Tuesday “the best part” of the Obama administration is its continuance of the National Security Agency’s controversial spying program.

“I would say the best part of the Obama administration would be his continuance of the protections of the homeland using, you know, the big metadata programs, the NSA being enhanced,” Mr. Bush, 62, said on the Michael Medved radio show, CNN reported.

“Even though he never defends it, even though he never openly admits it, there has been a continuation of a very important service, which is the first obligation I think of our national government is to keep us safe,” he said.

Bush’s statement begs the question, “Safe for whom and from whom?” More and more, the government appears to be more concerned about US than THEM!

C’mon, Jeb. Admit it. You’re a radical, liberal, statist masquerading as a ‘Pub. I notice Rubio is climbing the polls. Statements like yours is one reason why the conservatives are rising in the polls while the establishment can no longer fake polls that you lead the ‘Pub candidates.

Forbidden words

In his 1972 comedy routine, George Carlin enumerated the “seven words you can’t say on television.” It’s been more then forty years since Carlin first listed them. I think I’ve heard all of them on TV at one time or another, some have become fairly common.

Hillary Clinton supporters have created their list of forbidden words, too. Those are words reporters, or anyone asking questions from Hillary, can use. those words are: polarizing, calculating, disingenuous, insincere, ambitious, inevitable, entitled, over confident, Secretive, “will do anything to win”, “represents the past”, and “out of touch”.

You have to wonder, looking at this list. Is “over confident” considered to be a single combined phrase, or two words, “over” and “confident” that neither can be used? Does that mean a reporter can’t ask, “Hillary, are you confident?”

Can’t ask that I suppose. Neither can you ask, “Hillary is your campaign over?”

It’s confusing. We have to get all this straight in order that we don’t offend Hillary’s handful of fans. Handful. Is that another of the forbidden words?

hillary-madIf we can’t use “over“, how about “uber?” as in, “Hillary, Uber Alles!” Would that pass the smell test for Hillary’s buds? Hard to say. Regardless, I’m not a Hillary fan, nor of her lyin’ hubby who should have seen some jail time for perjury.

In fact, I rarely think about Hillary at all and when I do, it’s more and more like that o a crone from Act I, Scene I from McBeth. That scene is what comes to mind whenever I come across a news item about her.

George Carlin was forever tagged with the “seven forbidden words.” Like Carlin, Hillary is now forever tagged with her twelve (or is it twenty-one?) forbidden words.

Outrage!

I hadn’t intended to write about this episode. I expected others would do so. I was wrong, they aren’t.

An American veteran, a Navy SEAL, who described his experiences fighting in the Middle-East, a sniper who killed those attempting to kill our servicemen, was murdered by another veteran suffering from PTSD. Chris Kyle died. That in itself was a tragedy as were the circumstances of his death.

The statement by Ron Paul about Kyle’s death is vile. Ron Paul made this statement about Kyle via Twitter.

Ron Paul statement about Chris Kyle via TwitterI expected the Ron Paul apologists to come out in his defense and I was right. Paul’s twitter statement was discussed on our local radio this morning. The apologists were out in force. Their excuses fell into one of these categories: It was a false accusation against Paul, he didn’t really mean what he said, he was right and every serviceman who fought in “illegal” wars deserved a similar fate, and Kyle deserved being murdered because he was a sniper, a murderer, too.

I cannot describe my outrage. The twit from Paul was not false. It’s been tracked back to him and Paul has admitted sending it. Yes, he meant what he said and validated that through his later statements.

“Unconstitutional and unnecessary wars have endless unintended consequences,” he continued. “A policy of non-violence, as Christ preached, would have prevented this and similar tragedies.” — The washington Examiner.

Does Mr. Paul mean that all our servicemen, all those who have placed themselves between us and our enemies deserve a fate similar to Chris Kyle’s because our nation does not turn the other cheek to those to want to kill us?

Idiocy.

Even Ron Paul’s son, Rand Paul, distanced himself from his father’s statement.

Mr. Paul’s son, Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, issued a statement to Breitbart News, in which he said, “Chris Kyle was a hero like all Americans who don the uniform to defend our country. Our prayers are with his family during this tragic time.” — The Washington Times.

The real tragedy is that Ron Paul is strongly linked to the Tea Party and other grassroot organizations across the country. I belong to a few myself. Ron Paul has just given ammunition to Karl Rove, the ‘Pub establishment and their liberal counterparts who work to marginalize us, conservatives, the grassroot organizers who do not march to their party line.

Like it or not, Ron Paul is the Libertarian poster boy. Whenever Libertarians are mentioned, Ron Paul is the image most non-Libertarians see. Yes, he ran as a ‘Pub candidate in the last election but his support came mainly from Libertarians crossing party lines and those in agreement with Libertarian philosophies. The Libertarian Party always seem to have these Foot-in-Mouth moments. They have been tainted by this statement as well. What is worse is that some of Paul’s proposals were very good. All that is now tainted by his abominable statement on Twitter.

I don’t remember who said, “God save me from my friends, I can deal with my enemies.” It certainly applies here. More appropriately, “God save us from Ron Paul, we have enough enemies without creating more.”

Trends

The world came close to nuclear war fifty years ago this week. That crisis was known as the Cuban Missile Crisis.  I was in high school at the time in Southern Illinois and I  remember those times well.

I was reminded of this with the arrival of today’s Morning Bell from the Heritage Foundation that spoke of the anniversary of that crisis. That e-mail caused me to remember the runup to that crisis—of reports of Russian bombers and then IRBM missiles being based in Cuba. Those reports were followed by the release of reconnaissance photos by our Ambassador to the UN, Adlai Stevenson.

As the crisis grews, we examined the missile coverage mapped in our local daily paper. I remember noticing St. Louis, 90 miles to our northwest was within range of those missiles. Our local Red Cross distributed plans for building fallout shelters and a number of our neighbors built them.

We also practiced “duck and cover” in school…handy during tornado season but that practice suddenly acquired new meaning. I remember standing in our yard one clear, cool afternoon and watched four B-52s circling far overhead. during lunch-time at school we brought our maps to see where there were likely targets in our area.

To say that everyone was tense was an understatement.

If it weren’t for the events last week, those memories would be just that—a remembrance of a long past event. But, now, we see just how important it is to have competent people as our national leaders. Joe Biden’s maniacal antics last week brought that home.

This idiot—Joe Biden—is next in line to lead us in a crisis!?!?

For all the multitude of reasons to remove Obama, Biden and the democrats from power, the revelation of Joe Biden’s instability is sufficient reason why the nation must wrest power away from the democrats.  We fear that it’s likely in a crisis Obama will do nothing. On the other hand, if Joe Biden rose to the Presidency, he, in a crisis, would do anything!

The revelation of Joe Biden has helped change the trend of this election. That trend shifted after the first Presidential Debate. Biden’s arrogance, disrespect and strange behavior during the VP Debate increased that trend. We all hope and pray that tomorrow’s 2nd Presidential Debate will accelerate the trend towards a ‘Pub win three weeks from tomorrow.

With the increased tensions in the Middle-East, with a resurgent, militaristic Russia, with continued Chinese resource imperialism in the South China Sea, the last thing we need is continuing incompetence in the White House.

Valid polls or manipulated polls?

I did not intend to enter the Akin mess. The dems love it and think it will save McCaskill’s senate seat.  The ‘Pubs are mostly running in circles, screaming and shouting with incoherence. And the people of Missouri…still like Akin? That is what one poll seems to say.

By Alexandra Jaffe – 08/21/12 06:55 AM ET

Two new polls suggest Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) is still competitive in his race for Missouri’s Senate seat despite the firestorm over his controversial comments on rape.

A poll released by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) late Monday still gives Akin a single-percentage-point lead over incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill (D), the same lead he posted in a PPP poll from late May.

A Survey USA poll, however, finds that a majority of Missourians believe he misspoke and want him to drop out, but that Akin still has support among Republicans in the red-trending state.Akin tops McCaskill by 44 percent to 43 in the PPP survey, nearly identical to their May poll where he led by 45 percent to 44, but the edge is within the survey’s 4-point margin of error.

The new PPP survey was taken between 6 and 9 p.m. Central Time on Monday — after Akin’s comments had been widely publicized and he had been asked by senior Republicans to drop out of the race.

His persistent lead — even as 75 percent of voters and over two-thirds of Republicans in the PPP poll say his comments were inappropriate — is likely due to McCaskill’s persistent unpopularity in the state. A majority, 53 percent, of Missourians disapprove of the senator, and the same percentage of independent Missourians disapprove of her as well, indicating she’ll have an uphill battle to sway voters to back her in the general election.

Still, Akin has a pretty lukewarm rating with Missourians, too, with a full 58 percent rating him unfavorably. Even those who voted for then-GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) in 2008 are largely split over Akin, with 40 percent saying they view him favorably and 39 percent saying they view him unfavorably.

On the other hand, The National Review Online has a contrary piece. They believe the poll above is blowing smoke because it was weighted to favor GOP over dems by a 9 point spread. The NRO postulates the numbers may have been purposely fudged to help keep Akin in the race.

Our friend Jim Geraghty over at NRO has put on the green eye shades this morning to take a look at the poll numbers in the Todd Akin Senate race.

Over at HuffPo and AOL they are hyping a poll purporting to show that even after Akin’s rape comments he’s doing just dandy in the polls — tied with McCaskill.

Hmmmm.

Jim took a look and discovered that the number of GOP’s versus Dems was…9 points!  Which is to say, the suspicion is that the poll is deliberately weighted to produce a pro-Akin result….so that Akin will stay in the race. Jim also sweetly points out that Public Policy Polling is a Democrat-leaning polling outfit and asks:

“Anyone suspect that the Democrat polling firm might be trying to get the result they want, to ensure Akin stays in, so that he can get pummeled in November?”

I didn’t vote for Akin. But he did win the primary.  If Akin had been a democrat running for the the senate, the dems would have closed ranks behind Akin regardless of his statement. ‘Pubs however, will throw a candidate under the bus at the least provocation. For the establishment ‘Pubs, politics beats principal every time.
