Sarah Times Two

I had missed her the previous times she had visited Kansas City. I was not skipping this opportunity.  Sarah Palin and her family, Todd, Willow and Piper, were visiting Friday to stump for Sarah Steelman. The event took place at The Berry Patch outside Cleveland, MO—the largest Blue Berry farm in the state, Friday evening.

We took our friend, Jim W, along. He’s a big Sarah Palin fan. The notice we received said the “gate” would open at 5PM, and the event would start at 6PM with BBQ and music afterward.

We arrived early; a bit before 5PM. There was around a hundred people already there, excluding the vans and setup for two local TV stations, and a large truck from the AFP, the Americans For Prosperity.  Thirty minutes later the crowd had swelled to several hundred more. I would estimate the crowd to be in excess of 500 people at its peak.

The first Sarah Steelman campaign worker we saw was a friend, Jason Smith, a Missouri State Representative from Salem, MO. Jason has visited our church many times and has friends in our area.

We talked with Jason for awhile and with Sarah Steelman who had joined us. After we had talked for a few minutes I noticed a large RV parked near some trees. I don’t remember if it was Jason or Sarah who mentioned, “That’s the Palin RV. Todd drove it down from Iowa. Sarah will be flying in to the Executive Airport (Olathe, KS) and then they will take the RV to Sarah’s next event.” It was a really nice RV!

At 6PM, Steve Tilley opened the event.

Yes, it’s a poor photo. A smartphone camera doesn’t zoom worth a hoot. At least, it’s my photo. Not one I found on the ‘net.

Sarah Steelman was next. She spoke for fifteen to twenty minutes. Sarah Palin landed around 5:30PM at the closest airport and was being driven to the event site. I don’t know if she had arrived yet when Sarah Steelman started speaking.

The Finale was Sarah Palin. Her remarks hit the internet, Newsmax and others, before the local TV stations aired her.  I don’t know who fed the audio and photos to Newsmax but they were fast!

            Sarah Palin Supporting Sarah Steelman

Sarah Palin was wearing a “Super Sarah” t-shirt. I don’t know which Sarah was super—probably both.  The local news people put a lot of emphasis on the t-shirt. They seemed to think it was a big deal.

The BBQ was from KC Masterpiece. The Two Sarahs served the people along with Sarah Palin’s daughters, Willow and Piper.

Our friend, Jim W, took a baseball with him and asked for Sarah Palin’s autograph. She called for Todd and both signed it.  The baseball is one Jim caught at a Cardinals game—a foul ball that landed right in his hand.

I saw a number of ‘Pub pols at the event. Many took advantage of the photo opportunity while others just wanted to wheel ‘n deal with the establishment. One, who knows I’m voting for his opponent, snubbed me. I thought it was funny and proved my opinion of him.

It was a great evening. Too bad it takes an election for such events and gatherings to happen.

The election tomorrow will be interesting. The Tea Party has been in the background, working from inside. I wonder if they will surprise the establishment come tomorrow night.

Friday Follies for May 4, 2012

The word came out today on the economy.  The “unemployment” rate dropped from 8.2% to 8.1%.  Or did it?  If you read the stats carefully, you’ll discover the rate dropped because there were fewer people drawing unemployment.  Most because they’d used the last of their unemployment and were ineligible for more.

If you read further, you’ll see that only 115,000 jobs were added this last month. When you put all this together, it means the economy is in a continuing down-spiral and the workforce continues to shrink.

What is Obama doing?  He’s making campaign tours at colleges around the country telling them he’ll reduce their student debt.  He is not telling them they’ll have a job waiting upon graduation.  The Heritage Foundation had this to say in today’s Morning Bell.

Lackluster employment results dominate today’s report. It’s been three years under the Obama policies, and 12.5 million Americans remain out of work. No demographic group except black workers saw an improvement in their unemployment rate, and 13 percent of black workers remain unemployed. What’s more, the labor force participation fell to the lowest level since 1981 at 63.6 percent. Americans are fleeing this economy when at this stage workers should be returning to the labor force. — The Morning Bell, May 4, 2012.

No the economy is not getting better.  The real question is whether the nation can survive until we boot Obama out of office.

There’s been a lot of discussion on Obama’s re-election motto, “Forward!”  Mostly because it’s reminiscent of all the communist mottoes going back to Marx and Engels.  The conservative press has had a lot to say about it.

Also, some cartoonist.  Here’s one comment by Glenn McCoy.

You all have a great weekend!

Views from the Midwest

Obama came to my neighboring state of Texas—oh!, I mean Kansas yesterday. In his gaff of the day, Obama said he was glad to be in “Texas.”  After a few scattered snickers, he corrected himself and said, “Kansas.” The local news reported this misstatement. I’ve yet to hear any mention from the state media about it.

The local news covered Obama’s campaign speech amid the complaints of Kansas Citians because Obama’s motorcade disrupted traffic through the middle of Kansas City at noon and at rush-hour.  I think the traffic reports got more attention than any of Obama’s speech as folks tried to keep clear of Obama’s rolling traffic blockade.

The gist of Obama’s speech was the usual liberal lies: the Free Market is Bad, cutting taxes and spending never works, only government knows what is best for everyone, the Republicans are evil and don’t care about anyone except for millionaires.

Yeah, it was the usual drivel we’ve all come to expect from the democrats.

While Obama pontificated in Kansas, other news items revealed how vulnerable we’ve become under the neglect of the democrats. North Korea is building ICBMs with sufficient range to hit the continental US. China is expanding it’s missile forces as well.

China’s military recently deployed two new mobile ICBMs, the DF-31 and DF-31A. It is not known whether North Korea’s new mobile missile is based on Chinese technology. China in the past has provided missile technology to North Korea, a fraternal communist ally. — Washington Times.

The Iranians are progressing as well. Israel and possibly the US and UK are already in a state of clandestine war.  The recent explosions at Iran’s missile development facilities are possible examples of this warfare as well as the Iranian attack on the UK embassy and subsequent expulsion of Iranian diplomats from the UK.  Add to this Putin’s threat to retarget the US and Western Europe foretells a resurgence of the Cold War.

While all this is continues, Obama goes on a campaign trip to Kansas and then off on a seventeen day vacation to Hawaii.

Yep, when the going gets tough, Obama goes golfing. When it’s really getting tough, he goes on vacation. If we hear that Obama is leaving the country on another boondoggle, we’d all better head for the storm shelters.
