Sold out again

BOEHNERThe Drudge headline this morning is uncannily accurate. On it is a photo of John Boehner, looking down his nose at us…just like Obama. Why? Because he, with McConnell, are about to sell us out. Again!

I first saw the news from an email alert by Erick Erickson of Red State. That was followed by others. Then I saw the Drudge headliner and I knew the fix was in. Boehner and McConnell have been embarrassed by the revolt in their ranks by the conservatives. Boehner received no-so-subtle threats to his Speakership. McConnell had a hissy-fit and behind closed doors, cussed Ted Cruz and Mike Lee.

Neither Boehner nor McConnell care about the effects of higher debt, funding Obamacare, the continued degradation of our nation. Nor are they concerned by the growing dictatorial acts by Obama. Boehner and McConnell are firmly entrenched as members of The Ruling Class. Big government is their personal goal as much as it is for Reid, Obama and the dems.

So what is their current plan? To give in and approve a debt-limit increase AND funding Obamacare. No spending cuts. No reining of government. No, just complete capitulation.

House GOP Preparing to Give Up

By: Erick Erickson (Diary)  |  October 10th, 2013 at 04:30 AM

I’m being told by several sources that Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are plotting to give up trying to either defund or delay Obamacare.

This comes at the same time the Obama administration admits it will be months before their Obamacare website will be fixed and Kathleen Sebelius is saying if people want out of the mandate they can pay a fine.

Nonetheless, Cantor, Boehner, and with them Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn are expected to cave in and fully fund, unimpeded, Obamacare.

They will work up a new deal that includes a debt ceiling increase with a few sops to the GOP as cover. The only change they are still considering it the medical device tax repeal, which is being heavily lobbied for by former Boehner and McConnell staffers who left for K Street.

A number of Democrats who are recipients of campaign cash along with these Republicans may provide a crony capitalist bridge over which this one tax repeal can pass while leaving in place all the other taxes, penalties, and fees.

But John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and John Cornyn will ensure that Obamacare is fully funded and give the American public no delay like businesses have.

In doing so, they will sow the seeds of a real third party movement that will fully divide the Republican Party.

I’m not so sure about that last paragraph, but Boehner and McConnell are undermining any confidence by the GOP core in the party establishment in Washington. If the rank and file of the GOP have no confidence in their party, what obligation do they have to continue to vote for the party? None.

Aftermath

We had another incident of “workplace violence,” yesterday. the reports were still sketchy when Senator Feinstein started blaming assault rifles. The liberal media tweeted that “gun control creates tyrannies like Australia and Canada.

As it turns out, there was no AR-15 used. The shooter brought a shotgun and then took one or more pistols from his first victims, private contract guards. The facts are irrelevant to liberals. Their purpose is to pursue their agenda regardless of the facts. Oh, they’ll use facts when it supports their agenda, but when there aren’t any facts, they’ll ignore the ones that are present.

If we want to refute the acts of these liberals, we must adopt ‘some’ of their tactics, i.e., never lose sight of our end-goal, never let up pushing our agenda, never cease working to change government, to limit its scope and downsize it and limit the power of the federal government.

There is some good coming from the Navy Yard shootings. There is a building ground swell to address the problem of ‘Gun Free Zones.”

How many must die in gun free zones before we learn?

Monday, September 16, 2013 – Judson Phillips: Cold, Hard Truth by Judson Phillips

WASHINGTON.  September 16, 2013. – Why in God’s name do we make our military people so vulnerable that they have to rely on the DC police today?

Confusion swirled around the shootings at the Washington Naval Yard today. Was it one gunman or was it several? How did this gunman or gunmen get access to a secured military facility? How did one rifle and possibly one shotgun get onto a secured military facility?

Over the next few days these questions will be answered but there is one question that must be answered.

When will we learn from these tragedies?

The early reports about the shooting talked about the police officers that responded to the shooting. At least two cops are among the victims.

Let’s think about this for a second.

The United States Navy is one of the most powerful military organizations in the world.  The Navy’s arsenal could wipe most nations off the face of the earth. It was the Navy that killed Osama Bin Laden.

So why was one of our most important Naval facilities so vulnerable?

It is because it was made a gun free zone.

Like Washington D.C., one of the crime capitols of America, the Washington Navy Yard was a gun free zone. Translation: It was a target rich environment.

The United States Navy is actually made up of two parts. The first is the Navy, the other part is the United States Marine Corps.

The Marines advertise themselves as “The Few, The Proud, The Marines.” They have a storied history of fighting incredible battles against overwhelming odds. Before political correctness killed it, the Marines used to refer to themselves as the “Mens’ Department of the Navy.”

Marines and a lot of sailors are trained to use weapons.

This is Fort Hood all over again.

At Fort Hood, Nidal Hasan burst in on soldiers preparing to deploy. Even though many of these soldiers were combat trained, they were not allowed to carry weapons at Fort Hood.

Hasan was only stopped when he was shot by civilian police officers on the base.

Now we have seen the same tragedy revisited at the Washington Navy Yard.

These tragedies are not simply limited to Fort Hood and the Washington Naval Yard.   When a crazy gunman wants to go on a rampage, where do they choose to go on their rampage? They choose a gun free zone. Columbine was a gun free zone.  So was Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook.

The problem in America is not too many guns. The problem is we listen to politicians who should not even be entrusted to decide what is for dinner. We have seen this pattern too often.

Politicians, many of whom are protected by armed men, disarm Americans and make us victims.

The cold, hard truth is when Americans are armed they can fight back and shootings like Fort Hood and the Navy Yard would not happen. Our founding fathers understood this.

How many more times are we going to let the politicians be wrong before we the people stand up and tell them no?

That is a very good question. Here in Missouri, we attempted to correct that situation for our schools by allowing teachers and other school employees to be trained in the use of weapons and to carry weapons in schools. Why? To protect our children. That effort failed. Our democrat governor vetoed the bill and quislings in the state senate failed to override his veto.

Other states have been more successful, Texas for instance. It is time for us to address these issues. The liberals point to Europe, Australia and Canada as examples for gun control. I would note that Canada’s gun registration law and database failed. People refused to comply and eventually the registration program was rejected. In Australia, the former liberal government was just voted out—by a significant margin. There, gun control wasn’t the prime issue but it was an issue. We have yet to see what the new “conservative” government does but I would suspect a lessening of their gun control laws to be a part of their agenda.

The liberal always seem to point to Europe as an example to emulate. They overlook or deny Europe’s flaws and forget one vital item. We are not Europeans. Many of us has European ancestry but we left Europe behind. We have no desire nor need to emulate a failing society.

Colorado is a nearby example. The democrats are in a state of denial. They blame everyone and everything for the loss of their two state Senators. They refuse to believe it the success of the recall was due to the bills the democrats in Colorado’s legislature. NY Mayor Bloomberg spent $350,000 of his own money in support of the two recalled senators and failed. The democrats deny that outside influence is another factor for their failure. Most importantly, they overlook the fact that democrats voted to recall the senators as well and in significant numbers!

We have our work set out for us here in Missouri. We can take heart in the examples above that our cause is not futile.

Friday Follies for March 30, 2012

It’s been a while since I’ve posted Friday Follies. Since I have no single topic today, it’s time revisit the Follies.

Heard on the Morning Radio. Inflation, as it is currently calculated is around 3%.  If the rules that existed during the Clinton Administration in the 1990s were used to calculate inflation, today’s inflation rate would be 6%.  If the rules that existed during the Reagan Administration in the 1980s were used to calculate inflation, today’s inflation rate would be 11%.

If we want truth in government, and by extension in government reports, let’s use a standard set of rules that doesn’t mislead the public. Let’s return to Reagan’s rules and make sure we really know how much the democrats have screwed us.

Obama wants us to be just like the Euros. He thinks European-style socialism must come to the US.  After all, everyone knows the Euros always knows best.

Then we see something like this and I’m glad the Euro idiots are over there instead of over here.

Dim Bulb: Jean-Luc Melenchon

Who: French presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon.

What: He is calling for a 100 percent tax rate on all annual income over 1 million euros.

Why it’s dim: Let us count the way! But at the very least, this is a great way to get rich people to change their residency to other countries. Spain is beautiful this time of year, and its government could use a few additional high-income taxpayers.

Cure: A bit of economic common sense among politicians.

For you local readers, the Raymore City Council finally repealed the city’s Business Excise Tax on a vote of 6 to 2. Mayoral candidate Pete Kerckhoff and Councilman candidate Charlene Hubach voted to retain the tax.

I think it’s important to remember who voted to retain an unneeded tax whose revenues, according to Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Adams, isn’t budgeted.  Jeff Adams is also a candidate for Mayor.

The Raymore City Council repealed the city’s wheel tax earlier this year.  I’m glad the city is allowing Raymore’s residents to keep more of their own money instead of finding new ways to spend the unneeded revenue.

Raymore is fortunate that in addition to fully funding our annual budget, the city also has an emergency fund twice as large as required by statute.

Obama’s attempt to punish the oil industry failed yesterday in the Senate on a vote of 51-47. The democrat lie about ending “subsidies” to the oil industry didn’t pass muster.  The reality is that there are NO subsidies.  The bill proposed by Obama and the dems would punish the oil industry by disallowing tax credits and deductions that are allowed to ALL business entities. The so-called subsidy was allowing the oil industry to keep their own money.

The dems knew the bill would fail.  It was just an effort to retain support for their class warfare advocates.

A state liberal judge decided Missouri’s constitution admendment, “unfair and insufficient.” The judge’s decision is filled with inconsistencies.

Court says ‘no’ to voter photo I.D. ballot measure

A Cole County judge has struck down a measure that would only let voters with a photo identification cast a ballot.
Circuit Judge Pat Joyce called the proposal — which would be put to a vote of the people this November – ”insufficient and unfair.”
According to court documents, she says the ballot summary includes the phrase “Voter Protection Act” even though the phrase never actually appears in the constitutional amendment. Secondly, the summary says the amendment would allow the General Assembly establish an early voting period, when in fact the amendment would “restrict the time period during which advance voting may occur.”
She has sent the measure back to the legislature to fix it — “Because significant change are required here and policy choices need to be made as to how to reallocate the words in a revised summary statement, the Court chooses to vacate the summary statement and to provide the General Assembly an opportunity to revise it.”
The ballot title approved by the Legislature asks voters: “Shall the Missouri Constitution be amended to adopt the Voter Protection Act and allow the General Assembly to provide by general law for advance voting prior to election day, voter photo identification requirements, and voter requirements based on whether one appears to vote in person or by absentee ballot?”

Judge Joyce must have very good eyes to see words that don’t exist in the text of the amendment.  If there is any way to impeach a state judge, Judge Joyce should be first on the list to be removed from the bench for bias and incompetency.
